West End star Ruthie Henshall is on the streets this year, as she appears on ITV’s Coronation Street before starring in 42nd Street at Sadler’s Wells this summer
ITV has released first-look photos of West End star Ruthie Henshall, as she prepares to join Coronation Street in a guest role.
Ruthie will waltz into Weatherfield on 3 April 2023, playing seasoned entertainer Estelle, an old friend of Rovers Return barmaid Glenda Shuttleworth, who is played by the West End’s Jodie Prenger.

It’s all about the streets for Ruthie this year, as this summer the Olivier Award-winner will then be treading the London theatre boards again, joining the cast of legendary Broadway musical 42nd Street at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, from 7 June to 2 July 2023.
Ruthie’s first episode in Corrie sees her have a run in with George about the cost of her mother’s funeral. She then meets old friend Glenda and the pair reminisce about their time working on the cruise ships together!
Estelle also tries to talk Glenda into buying into her theatre school franchise Little Big Shotz.
Ruthie said about the role on the famous soap that: “This is one of the most enjoyable guest roles of my career. Everyone is so welcoming and I can’t believe after years of the street being in my life that I finally get to tread the cobbles. Getting to act with Jodie was a joy and every member of the cast was welcoming and kind.”
And talking about her character Estelle, Henshall says that: “Estelle is delighted to find her old friend Glenda and share a show tune or two to remember times spent entertaining on board cruises. I am so excited and delighted to be on the street where so many brilliant actors strut, and have strutted, their stuff.”

Ruthie’s stage credits cover many of the biggest musicals of the last 30 years including Cats, Miss Saigon, Crazy For You, She Loves Me, Marguerite, Oliver!, A Chorus Line, Les Misérables, Billy Elliot and Chicago.
Jodie Prenger won BBC talent show I’d Do Anything, winning the part of Nancy in Cameron Mackintosh’s revival of Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Her other stage credits include Les Miserables, Annie, Spamalot, One Man, Two Guvnors, Shirley Valentine and A Taste of Honey.
Jodie joined the cast of Coronation Street in 2022 as cruise ship singer Glenda Shuttleworth, the sister of George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley).
Ruthie Henshall stars in 42nd Street at Sadler’s Wells Theatre alongside a cast that includes Adam Garcia, Les Dennis and Nicole-Lily Baisden.
