Eddie Izzard to star in Great Expectations at the West End’s Gielgud Theatre

Actor, comedian, and multi-marathon runner Eddie Izzard Eddie Izzard is set to star in Great Expectations in the West End this summer. 

Izzard is bringing her one-woman version of Dickens’ classic to the Garrick Theatre for a 6 week run from 24 May to 1 July 2023. 

In the show Izzard plays all 19 of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations characters, in her unique re-telling of this classic tale of convicts, mystery, friendship, rivalry, unrequited love, revenge, and redemption.

This is a new adaptation of the Dickens’ classic by Mark Izzard, directed by Selina Cadell,

Eddie Izzard played the show in New York in 2022 to rave reviews.

Director Selina Cadell said: “I find the combination of Eddie Izzard’s idiosyncratic wit and Charles Dickens’ ingenious storytelling irresistible and am looking forward to sharing it with audiences.”
