West End’s Carley Stenson comes 2nd in Dancing on Ice – Musicals Week

It was Musicals Week yesterday (Sunday 29 January 2023) on ITV’s Dancing on Ice. And the West End’s Carley Stenson came in a very respectable second place.

Carley, who was recently appearing in From Here To Eternity at the Charing Cross Theatre, danced to Anything Goes from the classic Cole Porter musical, with her professional dance partner Mark Hanretty. She even sang the first part of the song completely live!

The pair scored a 32.5 from the judges – only getting beaten by Nile Wilson and Olivia Smart who got one point more at 33.5 for their dance to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

Also coming in with 32.5 points were The Vivienne and Colin Grafton, who skated to “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” from Evita.

Drama on the night included Patsy Palmer, dancing with Matt Evers, who took a tumble when dancing to “Defying Gravity” from Wicked, but she made an admirable recovery.

Other surprises included Brian May of Queen sending Siva Kaneswaran and her dance partner Klabera Komini a good luck video message ahead of their dance to “Bohemian Rhapsody” from Queen musical We Will Rock You.

Other shows featured in Musicals Week included Bugsy Malone, Grease, The Sound of Music and Waitress.

Once the judges’ scores and viewers’ votes had been counted and combined, it was sadly announced that Michelle Heaton and Łukasz Różycki, who danced to “All That Jazz” from Chicago, were leaving the competition.

The full judges’ scores were:

  • Nile Wilson and Olivia Smart: 33.5
  • Michelle Heaton and Łukasz Różycki: 20.0
  • Siva Kaneswaran and Klabera Komini: 26.5
  • Carley Stenson and Mark Hanretty: 32.5
  • The Vivienne and Colin Grafton: 32.5
  • Darren Harriott and Tippy Packard: 27.0
  • Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Brendyn Hatfield: 23.0
  • Mollie Gallagher and Sylvain Longchambon: 28.5
  • Patsy Palmer and Matt Evers: 20.5
  • Joey Essex and Vanessa Bauer: 29.0

Hosted by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, the celebrities and their professional skating partners will perform routines inspired by famous musicals – with one couple leaving the competition with a dramatic twist to the elimination.

Olympic legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean head up the ice judging panel alongside dance star Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse.
