A queer adaptation of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler by Harriet Madeley will have its world debut at Reading Rep this February.
One of the best known female characters in theatre, Hedda is locked in a life that has been predetermined according to this new adaptation by Harriet Madeley (The Listening Room, The Other Tchaikovsky).
Anna Popplewell, best known for her role as Susan Pevensie in Disney’s The Chronicles of Narnia series, makes her theatrical debut in the play, which is directed by Annie Kershaw (Best of Enemies, Dorian, Jekyll and Hyde).
The cast also includes Mark Desebrock (Hamlet) as George, Ryan Gerald (Guilt) as Brack, Natalie Perera (Glass Roots) as Thea and Jessica Temple (Patriots) as Isla.
The creative team includes Amy Watts as Designer, Jamie Lu as Sound Designer, Murong Li as Lighting Designer, Fran Levin as Costume Supervisor and Rose Burston as Stage Manager.
Hedda Gabler plays at Reading Rep from 22 February to 11 March 2023.
