Marylebone Theatre announces new plays for 2023

New venue Marylebone Theatre in London has revealed its new season for 2023, including the world premiere of new play The Dry House by Eugene O’Hare.

First up in the Spring 2023 season is new verbatim play Grenfell: System Failure – Scenes from the Inquiry, from the official inquiry into the 2017 Grenfell Tower tragedy.

This is the second part of a gripping exploration of the Grenfell Tragedy Inquiry adapted by Nicolas Kent and Richard Norton Taylor, and interrogates the failures of the authorities that led to the tragedy, and how bereaved families were failed by the London Fire Brigade and the Local Authority.

Directed by Nicholas Kent, the play runs from 14 to 26 March 2023 at Marylebone Theatre.

The play will also tour to London’s the Playground Theatre (18 – 25 February) and The Tabernacle (27 February – 12 March).

The theatre’s big new Spring production is the world premiere of Eugene O’Hare’s play The Dry House, about two sisters in County Down overcoming the effects of alcoholism on their family.

The play by actor and playwright Eugene O’Hare (Outlander, Black Mirror, Lady Chatterley’s Lover) will feature an all-female cast, and runs at Marylebone Theatre from 31 March to 6 May 2023.

Finally, in June 2023 Marylebone Theatre presents New York pianist and actor Roger Peltzman with his moving show Dedication, recounting his family’s tragic history fleeing the Nazis in war-torn Europe.

The play is centred on Peltzman’s uncle Norbert Stern who was, like his nephew, a brilliant pianist, and was caught in the midst of the devastating rise of Nazism and murdered at Auschwitz. Dedication runs from 7 to 24 June 2023.

The Spring season also includes a number of music, comedy and spoken word performances from January to June 2023.

Marylebone Theatre opened in Autumn 2022, and its patrons include Academy Award-winning actor Sir Mark Rylance, director of the English National Opera Martyn Brabbins, and the esteemed cross-bench peer Baroness Usha Prasher.

Currently playing at Marylebone Theatre in A Sherlock Carol, until 17 January 2023.
