Producers of have released production photos of Vardy v Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trial, which opened to the press at the Wyndham’s Theatre last night.

Lucy May Barker (Mamma Mia!) and Laura Dos Santos (Yes So I Said Yes, My White Best Friend) star as Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney in the high-stakes court room drama

They are joined by Jonathan Broadbent (The Comedy of Errors, RSC; My Night with Reg) as Hugh Tomlinson QC, and Nathan McMullen (Misfits) and Sharan Phull (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) who will both be playing multiple roles including Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy and Harpreet Robertson.

The play is based on the High Court transcripts from seven sensational days of the libel trial between football WAGS Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney. Adapted by Liv Hennessy, and directed by Lisa Spirling, the play allows audiences to witness the case of Rebekah Vardy v Coleen Rooney unfold in their own words.

Originally scheduled as a one-off performance, the response from the public has seen producers add several more dates to the programme including 6, 13 and 20 December 2022, and 10 January 2022.

The play is produced by Eleanor Lloyd, producer of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution. Her forthcoming new productions include two transfers from the Young Vic: James Graham’s Best of Enemies starring Zachary Quinto and David Harewood, coming to the Noel Coward Theatre from 14 November; and The Collaboration, which will open on Broadway starring Paul Bettany and Jeremy Pope in December.

The play is designed by Polly Sullivan, the lighting designer is Ben Bull, the sound designer is Richard Hammarton and Lizzie Manwaring is assistant director.
