Two major West End plays have confirmed their New York transfer details today.
Both The Doctor, currently playing at the Duke of York’s Theatre starring Juliet Stevenson, and recent hit Prima Facie at the Harold Pinter Theatre starring Jodie Comer, are New York bound.
Prima Facie by Suzie Miller will start on 11 April 2023 at the Golden Theatre in New York, starring Jodie Comer. The show confirmed its intention to transfer to New York in June this year.
The Doctor, written and directed by Robert Icke, begins performances on 6 June 2023 at the Park Avenue Armory in New York, starring Juliet Stevenson.
The Doctor, which has been freely adapted by Robert Icke from Professor Bernhardi by Arthur Schnitzler, originally opened at the Almeida in August 2019. The show got five-star reviews, and must end at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London on 11 December 2022.
Prima Facie also proved a huge success in London, with Jodie Comer garnering great reviews for the solo play at the Harold Pinter Theatre earlier this year. The play is also available to screen online on the National Theatre at Home website (see link below).
