Also, six further performances have been added, with the first performance on 15 November 2022 now sold-out. The additional dates are 22 and 29 November, 6, 13 and 20 December 2022, and 10 January 2022, all at the Wyndham’s Theatre.

Further casting is to be announced.

The play is based on the High Court transcripts from seven sensational days of the libel trial between football WAGS Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney.

Adapted by Liv Hennessy, and directed by Lisa Spirling, the play will allow audiences to witness the case of Rebekah Vardy v Coleen Rooney unfold in their own words.

Vardy v Rooney The Wagatha Christie Trial

Rebekah Vardy, who is the wife of Jamie Vardy, the Leicester City footballer, lost her libel case in July 2022 against Coleen Rooney, the wife of England footballer Wayne Rooney. The drama started three years earlier when Rooney carried out a private investigation to identify the person who had been laking stories from her private Instagram account to journalists at The Sun.

The play is produced by Eleanor Lloyd, producer of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution. Her forthcoming new productions include two transfers from the Young Vic: James Graham’s Best of Enemies starring Zachary Quinto and David Harewood, coming to the Noel Coward Theatre from 14 November; and The Collaboration, which will open on Broadway starring Paul Bettany and Jeremy Pope in December.

The play is designed by Polly Sullivan, the lighting designer is Ben Bull, the sound designer is Richard Hammarton and Lizzie Manwaring is assistant director.
