Liz Kingsman’s acclaimed One Woman Show is to transfer into the West End.
The show will open at the Ambassadors Theatre on 14 December 2022, running to 21 January 2023.
Listed as The Guardian’s Number 1 Comedy Event of 2021, and following sold-out runs at Soho Theatre in London and at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh, Liz Kingsman’s show-within-a-show is billed as a brilliant spoof of the genre – bold, irreverent, raw, moving and triumphant.
TimeOut said of the show this year in Edinburgh that, ” It’s not so much a parody of ‘Fleabag’ as a merciless send-up of the feeding frenzy around Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s former Edinburgh hit, with Kingsman playing a fame hungry version of herself determined to create her own ‘edgy’ solo show in a shamlessly Waller-Bridge mould.”
Liz Kingsman is an actor and writer who won this year’s Sky Arts South Bank Breakthrough Award. Her current onscreen credits include French political satire Parlement, and Down From London, which she co-created and wrote with Sharon Horgan’s Merman Productions.
One Woman Show is directed by Soho Theatre associate director Adam Brace, was originally produced at the Soho Theatre and Traverse Theatre by Country Mile Productions. The Designer is Chloe Lamford, Lighting Designer is Daniel Carter-Brennan, Sound Designer is Max Perryment and Choreographer is Joshua Lay.
Kingsman’s previous credits include BAFTA-nominated ITV2 sitcom Timewasters, Borderline on Netflix, and topical Channel 4 comedies Ballot Monkeys and Power Monkeys. She was named in this year’s Evening Standard and Observer’s Faces to Watch in 2022.
