The Almeida Theatre in London has announced that it is to produce the world premiere of new musical Tammy Faye.
The show will run at the Almeida Theatre from 13 October to 3 December 2022.
Tammy Faye stars Olivier Award-winner Katie Brayben (Beautiful) as Tammy Faye, and Tony Award-nominee and Broadway star Andrew Rannells (The Book of Mormon, Girls) as Jim. The show also stars Olivier Award-nominee Zubin Varla (Fun Home) as Jerry Falwell.
Other cast include Kelly Agbowu, Amy Booth-Steel, Ashley Campbell, Peter Caulfield, Danny Collins, Richard Dempsey, Fred Haig, Georgia Louise, Robyn Rose, Nicholas Rowe, Martin Sarreal, Steve John Shepherd and Gemma Sutton.
Tammy Faye is the true story about Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker, who revolutionised religion in America, preaching to millions 24 hours a day as TV evangelists. Tammy just wants to put the fun back into faith, but a new wave of ministers wants you not to just feel God in your heart, but in your homes, in your schools and in the law too.
Directing duties go to Almeida artistic director Rupert Goold, with a creative team that includes Choreographer Lynne Page, Designer Bunny Christie, Costume Designer Katrina Lindsay, Lighting Designer Neil Austin, Sound Designer Bobby Aitken, Musical Supervisor, Co-Orchestrator & Arranger Tom Deering, Co-Orchestrator Mark Dickman, Video Designer Finn Ross, Musical Director Oli Jackson, Casting Directors Pippa Ailion and Natalie Gallacher, Costume Supervisor Karen Large, Prop Supervisor Lily Mollgaard, Dialect Coach Brett Tyne, Associate Director Sara Aniqah Malik, Associate Choreographer Tom Herron, Sound Associate Sam Vincent, Associate Music Director Alex Beetschen, and Associate Casting Director Richard Johnston.
