A new British musical Are You As Nervous As I Am? will open at Greenwich Theatre this Autumn starring Katie Elin-Salt and Emma Thornett.
A plucky and heart-warming new show, Are You As Nervous As I Am? follows two sisters in search of happiness, who are forced apart due to their mother’s dysfunctional behaviour. Set against the background of a century in flux, when the sisters reconnect, they are gradually empowered to positively transform their lives.
The piece is a strong female-driven story of empowerment: touching on disability, sexuality, abuse and race, with memorable characters and powerful original songs. The production stars Katie Elin-Salt (The Rise And Fall of Little Voice) in the role of Peggy, the young and impressionable girl with a passion for singing, and Emma Thornett (Disney’s Bedknobs and Broomsticks) as Janet, the runaway sister in search of a more honest life. Further casting will be announced shortly.
The story is brought to life by an award winning creative team including writer Simon Spencer, composer Leighton James and lyricists Shaun McKenna.
The production is directed by Phoebe Barran, with musical arrangements by Dr Matthew Malone, set & costume design by Kevin Jenkins lighting by Mike Robertson, movement by Denni Sayers.
Are You As Nervous As I Am? runs from 1 October 2022 until 23 October 2022 at Greenwich Theatre, London.
