Rehearsal images are in for the forthcoming West End production of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie starring Hollywood’s Amy Adams.
The play starts its run at the Duke of York’s Theatre on 23 May 2022, running until 28 August 2022.
Six-time Oscar nominated actress Amy Adams is making her West End stage debut in this classic American drama, playing family matriarch Amanda Wingfield – a faded Southern belle who attempts to get her son Tom to bring round ‘gentlemen callers’ for her reclusive daughter Laura.
Adams is joined on stage by Paul Hilton (The Inheritance, A Very British Scandal) and Tom Glynn-Carney (The Ferryman, Dunkirk), who will share the role of Tom at different stages of his life, along with Lizzie Annis and Victor Alli.
The play’s creative team includes director Jeremy Herrin (People Places and Things, All My Sons, Wolf Hall, This House), designer Vicki Mortimer, lighting designer Paule Constable, and video designer Ash J Woodward, with casting by Jessica Ronane. Also announced today is costume designer Edward K. Gibbon, composer and sound designer Nick Powell, and design associate Choy-Ping Clarke-Ng.
Amy Adams is one of the most in demand actors in Hollywood, with credits including Junebug (2005), Doubt (2008), The Fighter (2010), The Master (2012), American Hustle (2013), Vice (2018), Sharp Objects and Dear Evan Hansen.
