The BRIT award-winning Scottish singer and songwriter KT Tunstall has written a musical during Covid lockdown!
She told BBC Scotland that she wanted to flex her musical muscles whilst prevented from hitting the road on tour and playing to live audiences during the various Covid lockdowns.
And the musical she has been penning in a new show based on the 2000 film Saving Grace, which starred Brenda Blethyn and Scottish comedian, actor and writer Craig Ferguson.
“It’s a really new adventure for me, it’s very exciting,” she told the BBC, and the musical is set to be her main focus for the rest of this year. “[Musicals] were always something that kind of piqued my interest and I was just so pleased that it came together at the right time.”
In terms of the adaptation of the movie into a musical, she said that it was a “really brilliant adaptation of the film. We’ve done a really rip-roaring, very funny adaptation for the theatre. I’m really excited to finally turn this movie into a musical 20 years later.”
