Bulk is a new documentary theatre dance hybrid show, interrogating the intersection of gym culture and addiction in Dublin. The work-in-progress production is written and directed by Shaun Dunne, with movement direction and choreography by Jessie Thompson, composition and sound design by Robbie Kitt, and original music and song by Gemma Dunleavy.

This is a chance to see a new work-in-progress piece from one of the most exciting writers working across the UK and Ireland, staged as part of the Young Vic’s Shed Originals script development programme in partnership with the Abbey Theatre.  

What to Expect  

Bulk aims to be an unflinching, timely work inviting audiences to explore the gym as a cultural space, where stories converge, and bodies are broken as well as built. It is based on a series of interviews, and sheds light on male adolescence, fractured relationships, body dysmorphia and stimulant abuse by infusing street dance choreography with original music and video design.
