More tickets have just been released for Hay Fever at Wyndham’s Theatre, for Noël Coward’s classic comedy, marking Christine Baranski’s long-awaited West End debut opposite Richard E. Grant’s return to the London stage after 20 years. The production plays a strictly limited 12-week season from 22 September to 12 December 2026.
It’s one of the star-casting spectaculars of the year. The upcoming production of Hay Fever at Wyndham’s Theatre sees Christine Baranski star as the gloriously theatrical retired actress Judith Bliss, alongside Richard E. Grant as her reclusive novelist husband David. They are now joined by Ophelia Lovibond as their daughter Sorel, Will Close as their son Simon, Nancy Carroll as Myra Arundel and Charles Edwards as Richard Greatham, completing the eccentric Bliss family and their unsuspecting weekend guests – and a whole batch of new tickets have also been released.
Directed by Emily Burns, Hay Fever follows the Bliss family as each member, unbeknownst to the others, invites a guest to their country home for the same weekend, resulting in a gloriously chaotic collision of parlour games, put-downs and unwanted encores. First staged in the West End in 1925, the play has been continually revived ever since, with past Judith Blisses including Edith Evans, Judi Dench and Felicity Kendal.
Baranski, the two-time Tony Award winner known for The Good Wife and The Gilded Age, said fulfilling a childhood ambition to perform in the West End was “rather a dream come true,” recalling that she “attended my first West End play as a student at Juilliard in 1971.” Grant, marking his first London stage appearance in two decades, said he was “delighted to return to the Wyndham’s stage… alongside the sensational Christine Baranski,” adding that he was “thrilled” to be directed by “the illustrious Emily Burns.“
