Stranger Things: The First Shadow announced a new graphic novel due to be released in January 2027. The graphic novel will depict the events of the stage play.
The hit West End show Stranger Things: The First Shadow has announced a brand-new graphic novel adaptation to join the family. The stage play announced earlier this year that it would be closing both the West End and Broadway productions, but from January, audiences can enjoy the story in book form.
The play takes audiences to the very beginnings of the story, dramatising the events that lead to the eventual story of the series. The upcoming 80-page graphic novel will adapt the stage play.
Stranger Things on Stage
The critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning production opened to rave reviews at the Phoenix Theatre in 2023, and received Olivier Awards for Best Entertainment and Best Set Design, the Critics’ Circle Awards for Best Set Design and Most Promising Newcomer, and the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play.
It’s seen similar success on Broadway, where it plays at the Marquis Theatre: the global phenomenon took home 4 Tony Awards in 2025, including Best Scenic Design of a Play, Best Lighting Design of a Play, Best Sound Design of a Play, and a Special Tony Award for Illusions and Technical Effects.
The production marks the first-of-its-kind collaboration between theatre and television. Stranger Things: The First Shadow was also Netflix’s first foray into theatre.
