A host of new names have been announced for the celebratory 15th anniversary West End run of White Rabbit Red Rabbit, the internationally acclaimed theatrical experiment in which a different performer takes to the stage each week with a script they have never seen before.
Mel Giedroyc, Christopher Eccleston, Munya Chawawa, Steve Pemberton, Nish Kumar, Adam Buxton, John Bradley and Ginger Johnson are the latest artists confirmed, joining a previously announced line-up that includes David Harewood, Asim Chaudhry, Jodie Whittaker, Riz Ahmed, Luke Thompson and Archie Madekwe. The play runs weekly on Mondays at the Duchess Theatre until 2 November 2026, and tickets are on sale now.
A play like no other
White Rabbit Red Rabbit is among the most singular experiences in contemporary theatre. Each performance sees a different actor walk on stage and open a sealed envelope, inside which is a script they have never read — to be performed only once, with no rehearsal and no director. What follows is a unique, unrepeatable event, shaped entirely by how that performer responds to the unknown in the moment.
First performed in 2011, the play was written by Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour while he was forbidden to leave Iran. Playful, poignant and unsettling, it explores obedience, choice and freedom of expression, as well as the fragile contract between performer and audience. Fifteen years on, its questions feel as urgent as ever: the play has now been performed more than 4,000 times and translated into over 25 languages.
The performances
Lucian Msamati, David Tennant and Jo Joyner have already taken on the challenge this season.

Upcoming performers include Asim Chaudhry (29 June), Luke Thompson (6 July), Jodie Whittaker (13 July), Kathryn Hunter (20 July), Kunal Nayyar (27 July), Munya Chawawa (3 August), Ginger Johnson (10 August), David Harewood (17 August), Mel Giedroyc (24 August), Adam Buxton (7 September), Archie Madekwe (21 September), Christopher Eccleston (28 September), Steve Pemberton (5 October), Riz Ahmed (12 October), Nish Kumar (19 October) and John Bradley (26 October). With each performer appearing once only, every Monday offers a genuinely one-off event.
