Visionaries in London
Coming to London this autumn as part of its 2026-27 season, the Royal Ballet presents Visionaries: Robbins and MacMillan, a double bill of two groundbreaking contemporary works from Jerome Robbins and Kenneth MacMillan.
Billed as ‘two profound meditations on humanity, community and connection,’ Visionaries presents two starkly contrasting yet equally exquisite ballets.
Bringing together visionaries Robbins and MacMillan
The first billing is Jerome Robbins’s 1969 ballet Dances at a Gathering, set to Chopin’s piano melodies. The ballet presents a series of seemingly plotless dances, each a portrait of human connection.
Following after is Kenneth MacMillan’s 1965 ballet Song of the Earth. Choreographed to to Gustav Mahler’s Song of the Earth series, this ballet is a rich exploration of the transience of life and the imminence of death.
