The full cast has been revealed for the world premiere of Thelma & Louise: A New Musical at the Young Vic, with Olivier Award nominees Amy Lennox and Rachel Tucker leading the company in the title roles of one of cinema’s most iconic double acts.

A brand-new musical adaptation of Callie Khouri‘s Oscar and Golden Globe-winning road movie, Thelma & Louise opens the Young Vic’s 2026/27 season, running in the Main House from 3 September to 24 October 2026.

Reimagined for the stage by Khouri herself, more than thirty years after the film became a cultural landmark, and at a moment when its politics feel more relevant than ever, the production features music and lyrics by Grammy-nominated artist Neko Case and is directed by Trip Cullman (Choir Boy, Becky Shaw). Tickets are on sale now.

Amy Lennox (Cabaret, Kinky Boots) stars as Thelma, with Rachel Tucker (Wicked, Come From Away) as Louise, bringing together two of the West End’s most formidable musical theatre talents for the first time. They are joined by a strong supporting company – the full cast includes

  • Amy Lennox as Thelma
  • Rachel Tucker as Louise
  • Trevor Dion Nicholas (Hercules, Hadestown) as Hal
  • Jordan Luke Gage (& Juliet, Bonnie & Clyde) as JD
  • Samuel Edwards (Anything Goes, Wicked) as Darryl
  • Alex Gibson-Giorgio (Top Hat, Sinatra The Musical) as Jimmy
  • Letitia Hector (Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, 2:22) as Sarah
  • Tamlyn Henderson (Mamma Mia!, Waitress) as Harlan / Max
  • Jack Butterworth (American Psycho, Here We Are) as Trooper / Singer

The ensemble is made up of Suzie McAdam, Eleanor Walsh, Alex Given, Kamilla Fernandes, Rushand Chambers and Joshua Dever.

Both leads bring serious pedigree to the production. Rachel Tucker is renowned for her record-breaking turns in Wicked and her Olivier-nominated performance in Come From Away, while Amy Lennox earned Olivier nominations for both Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club and Kinky Boots in the West End. Their first-time pairing as Thelma and Louise is one of the most anticipated castings of the autumn season.

About the show

On a whim, Louise invites her best friend Thelma for a spontaneous weekend getaway. But after an ill-fated encounter with a stranger at a roadside honkytonk, their lifelong friendship is forged into something dangerous and unbreakable. Propelled by a soaring musical score, the pair set out on a last-chance adventure in a world where every card is stacked against them.

This empowering, funny and deeply moving story about freedom, solidarity and unshakeable friendship has been reimagined for the stage by the film’s original screenwriter: bringing one of the most celebrated road movies of all time to theatrical life for the very first time.

The creative team

Thelma & Louise features a book by Callie Khouri with music and lyrics by Neko Case, directed by Trip Cullman. The creative team also includes choreography by Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber, scenography by Christine Jones and Brett J. Banakis, costume design by Ryan Dawson Laight, lighting design by Natasha Chivers, sound design by Gareth Owen, and musical supervision by Kimberly Grigsby.

The production is a Young Vic, Sonia Friedman Productions, Blue Spruce Productions, Ley Line Entertainment and Callie Khouri co-production, with Mandy Greenfield, in association with MGM On Stage.

Given Sonia Friedman Productions’ involvement, the show is already being widely tipped for a West End transfer following its strictly limited Young Vic run.
