Oh, Mary! has announced the latest star to step into the boots of Mary Todd Lincoln. American drag queen, actress and comedian Jinkx Monsoon is set to take over the role from Cole Escola from 17 August in a strictly limited run.
Jinkx Monsoon will star as Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary! for a strictly limited run from 17 August – 26 September 2026. She is no stranger to the role: her highly acclaimed 8-week run on Broadway sold out. Tickets are expected to sell quickly so make sure to book now.
The West End production currently stars Catherine Tate until 18 July, after which Cole Escola – who wrote the play and originated the role on Broadway – will take over for a limited 4 week run. Jinkx Monsoon will follow Escola in playing the former First Lady.

The award-winning actress, comedian and music star is currently playing iconic Hollywood legend Judy Garland in a strictly limited London run of Peter Quilter’s play End of the Rainbow until 21 June 2026.
Previous roles include Matron “Mama” Morton in Chicago on Broadway, where she broke box office records during an extended 10-week run and Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors opposite Corbin Bleu, becoming the first drag queen and trans actor to play the role.
Monsoon is perhaps best known for winning season 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, as well as RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7 (2022) where she was crowned the ‘Queen of All Queens.’
What to Expect from Oh, Mary!
This 80-minute comedy reimagines Mary Todd Lincoln in the lead up to husband Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. It’s a camp and absurdist take on history through the lens of a woman who drinks a bit too much and loves cabaret.
Written by Cole Escola, Oh, Mary! has captivated audiences on Broadway and in the West End, winning several Tony Awards and an Olivier Award. The Broadway production has also kept the show fresh by incorporating a rotation of celebrity casting. The West End is already following in that trend, with Monsoon being the fourth Mary to take on the role since its debut at the Trafalgar Theatre at the end of last year. Keen to know more?
