Oh, Mary! takes the world by storm
Declared “one of the best comedies in years” by The New York Times, Oh, Mary! received Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor in a Play (Cole Escola) and Best Direction of a Play (Sam Pinkleton), alongside Drama League Awards for Outstanding Play and Outstanding Direction, and was named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play premiered off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in January 2024, before transferring to Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre, where it broke box office records.
Following it’s success in New York, Oh, Mary! had its West End premiere at the Trafalgar Theatre in December 2025, breaking further box office records and winning Best Entertainment or Comedy Play at this year’s Olivier Awards.
The production has also seen great success with its rotating cast of high-profile performers taking on the role of Mary Todd Lincoln, both on Broadway and in the West End. Since its Broadway transfer, the role has been played by a string of stars including Betty Gilpin, Titus Burgess, Maya Rudolph, Bowen Yang and Jinkx Monsoon. The West End production has followed a similar pattern, with Lolly Adefope now stepping into a role that has already passed through several hands since the show’s London premiere, continuing the production’s tradition of star-led cast turnovers on both sides of the Atlantic.
