Initial casting has been confirmed for the highly anticipated world premiere of Dark of the Moon, a new musical set for Charing Cross Theatre this summer.
West End favourites Glenn Adamson and Lauren Jones have been announced as the production’s principal leads, portraying the star-crossed duo at the heart of this supernatural folk-rock odyssey.

Dark of the Moon is scheduled to begin performances on 18 May 2026, with the limited engagement ending on 8 August 2026.
Based on the classic 1941 play by Howard D. Richardson and William Berney, the musical reimagines the haunting Appalachian legend for a modern audience.
Glenn Adamson, widely acclaimed for his powerhouse performance as Strat in Bat Out of Hell, will take on the role of John, the Witch Boy. Joining him is Lauren Jones, recently seen in the UK tour of The Addams Family and the Charing Cross Theatre’s own Rebecca, who will star as Barbara Allen.
Set against the misty backdrop of the Smoky Mountains, Dark of the Moon tells the spellbinding story of a witch-boy who strikes a dangerous bargain to become human after falling in love with a mortal girl. The production features a book by Jonathan Prince and a country-bluegrass-meets-rock score by the songwriting trio of Lindy Robbins, Dave Bassett, and Steve Robson.
“To say I’m excited for this one is an understatement,” said Adamson on the announcement. “The soundtrack really is that good. It fills the folk-rock void we’ve all been missing.”
Director Georgie Rankcom (Anyone Can Whistle, The Frogs) leads a creative team that includes choreographer Jane McMurtrie and musical supervisor Brad Haak.
