Rising West End star Martha Kirby is set to join the cast of Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre, taking over the iconic role of Fantine.
Martha Kirby, known for her roles in Evita, Grease and the UK tour of Bat Out of Hell, will begin performances on 13 April 2026. She succeeds Lucie Jones, who is scheduled to play her final performance as Fantine on 11 April 2026.

Martha Kirby joins the company following her acclaimed performances as Eva Peron in Evita at the Leicester Curve, Raven in the UK tour of Bat Out of Hell, and her turn as Bella in Rumi: The Musical at the London Coliseum. She also starred as Sandy in the West End production of Grease at the Dominion Theatre. Read more about Martha Kirby’s stage credits.
Lucie Jones, a fan-favourite who has played both Fantine and Éponine in the production, departs the Sondheim Theatre on 11 April. The West End star originally joined the 2026 cast following her run in 13 Going on 30 in Manchester.
The show has recently undergone another big cast change, with Harry Hepple (Hello, Dolly!, Hamilton) coming in to play Thénardier, Lizzie Bea (Sister Act, Hairspray) playing his wife Madame Thénardier, and Jess Folley (Burlesque The Musical) playing Éponine.
They join a cast that continues to feature Ian McIntosh as Jean Valjean, Sam Oladeinde as Javert, Thiago Phillip Felizardo as Marius, Joe Griffiths-Brown as Enjolras and Izzi Levine as Cosette. View the full Les Misérables cast and creative team here.
Now in its 41st year, Les Misérables recently celebrated its landmark 40th anniversary in October 2025. It remains the second longest-running musical in West End history, surpassed only by The Mousetrap.
