Comedy producer John Lloyd will interview Michael Palin and Sandi Toksvig in two one-off evenings at the West End’s Gillian Lynne Theatre this spring, as part of the new On a Roll strand.
QI creator and legendary comedy producer John Lloyd is bringing a new series of “in conversation” events to the West End this spring, with Michael Palin and Sandi Toksvig set to take the hot seat this new On a Roll series.
The new strand is deliberately simple: one guest, one interviewer, no interval and no gimmicks – just an easy-going evening of stories, surprises and off-the-leash conversation.
After decades producing and collaborating with some of the country’s best-known talent, John Lloyd says he wanted to create a space for the kind of warm, revealing chats that normally happen out of earshot — “in private or in the corner of a quiet pub”.
The series opens with Michael Palin: On a Roll – Lightly Toasted by John Lloyd at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on Monday 27 April 2026.
Promising a rare chance to see Palin live and unedited, the evening will explore his travels, career, and the strange (often hilarious) business of “being Michael Palin”, guided by Lloyd’s probing but playful questions.
One week later, Sandi Toksvig: On a Roll – Sauced Up by John Lloyd comes to the same stage on Monday 4 May 2026.
A Sunday Times bestselling novelist, and the only presenter to have hosted both QI and The Great British Bake Off, Toksvig will revisit the moments and mischief behind her decades-long broadcasting career. And, in a neat role reversal, she’ll do it opposite the man who helped shape one of her most iconic roles: with Lloyd steering the conversation, the evening promises fresh insight into the stories behind Toksvig’s extraordinary journey.
With two standout interviewees to launch the strand, On a Roll looks set to become a new fixture for audiences who like their West End nights a little more conversational and candid.
