The Old Vic in London has announced the return of Matthew Warchus’ Tony Award-winning festive production of A Christmas Carol.
Now an annual event at The Old Vic, A Christmas Carol is returning to London for its 10th consecutive year, from 12 November 2026 to 9 January 2027.
2026 will be the first year that Matthew Warchus’ production of A Christmas Carol has been staged without him leading The Old Vic as artistic director. The Almeida Theatre’s artistic director Rupert Goold is taking over as Old Vic artistic director this year.
“What a great pleasure to be announcing the tenth year of A Christmas Carol. When I approached Jack Thorne a decade ago to adapt this much-loved story, set in the very borough that is home to The Old Vic, I knew that it had the potential to be something special but the international impact it now enjoys could never have been anticipated.” – Matthew Warchus
Adapted by Jack Thorne (Adolescence), A Christmas Carol has played to over half a million people in London since it started performances in 2016. The production has also enjoyed successful runs in America and Australia.
