The smash-hit London production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will undergo a major transformation in the West End as it celebrates a decade on stage, with producers announcing the play will evolve from its original two-part format into a newly reimagined one-part production.
After ten record-breaking years at London’s Palace Theatre, the critically acclaimed production will reopen on 6 October 2026 as a single performance running two hours and 55 minutes, including one interval. The change is designed to make the show more accessible, allowing audiences to experience the full story in one visit and with a single ticket.

The two-part version of the play will continue to run in London until 20 September 2026, forming part of a final celebratory year honouring the show’s extraordinary achievements since its world premiere in July 2016.
Producers Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions said the evolution marks “an exciting new chapter” as the West End production enters its second decade. The London staging will align with the one-part version already performed internationally, including on Broadway, where the reimagined production premiered in 2021 and is currently breaking major box office records.
The producers paid tribute to the Palace Theatre, calling it “the perfect home” for the production, and praised the creative team behind the show, including director John Tiffany and playwright Jack Thorne.

The producers added that the decision to shift to a one-part format was driven by a desire to welcome new audiences. “As new Harry Potter fans discover these stories every day, we felt this milestone moment was the right time to make the production more accessible than ever before,” they said. “The reimagined production retains its scale, illusions and theatrical magic, and emotional depth, while allowing more audiences to experience the story in a single visit.”
Since opening in 2016, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has become one of the most successful plays in UK theatre history. The original production won a record-breaking nine Laurence Olivier Awards—the most ever for a play – and has amassed 60 major honours worldwide. In London alone, it has been seen by 2.2 million people, including more than 300,000 first-time theatregoers, across more than 8,000 hours of performance.
The final block of tickets for the two-part production is now on sale.
