A bold new musical from singer, songwriter, and performer Todrick Hall is set to take the stage at Sadler’s Wells East this November, when Midnight receives a public workshop presentation for one week only from 11 to 15 November 2025.
Set in America’s South during the nineteenth century, Midnight is described as “a sweeping story of love, conflict, and the search for understanding.” The sung-through musical explores empathy and identity through powerful music and drama, with a message that “we cannot choose the roles we are given in life, but we can choose how we play them.”
The score blends gospel, rhythm and blues, classical, pop, rock, opera, folk, and traditional musical theatre, echoing the stylistic ambition of shows like Hamilton, Les Misérables, and Rent. Running at two hours and 35 minutes (including one 20-minute interval), the production marks Hall’s most ambitious original work to date.
