The forthcoming Ralph Fiennes season at the Theatre Royal Bath has announced further casting for As You Like It and Small Hotel.
Award-winning comedian and actor Dylan Moran, BAFTA winner Francesca Annis, and TV stars Patrick Robinson and Charlie Rowe are among the cast announced today. There will also be an evening with legendary writer and musician Patti Smith.
As You Like It
Already announced to star in Ralph Fiennes’ new production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It are Olivier Award-winner Dame Harriet Walter as Jaques, and Gloria Obianyo (Paradise, Andor) as Rosalind.
They will be joined by award-winning comedian Dylan Moran (Black Books, Shaun of the Dead) as Touchstone, Patrick Robinson (Casualty) as Duke Senior and Duke Frederick, and Charlie Rowe (The Golden Compass) as Orlando.
The cast of As You Like It also includes Sam Alexander (Le Beau/First Lord), Hannah Azuonye (Lady-In-Waiting/Lord in Arden), Matt Ray Brown (Dennis/Lord in Arden), Michael Brophy (Corin), Imogen Elliott (Phebe), Matt Gavan (Sir Oliver Martext), Amber Grappy (Audrey), Emilio Iannucci (Jaques de Boys), Amber James (Celia), Paul Jesson (Adam), Nitai Levi (Amiens), Jake Neads (Oliver), Richard Pryal (Charles/William/Lord in Arden) and Ethan Thomas (Silvius).
As You Like It, directed by Ralph Fiennes, is playing at the Theatre Royal Bath from 15 August to 6 September 2025.
Small Hotel
Further casting has also been announced for Small Hotel, starring Ralph Fiennes.
Francesca Annis (Cleopatra, Cranford, Roman Polanski’s Macbeth) will star alongside Ralph in the world premiere of Small Hotel, a new play by acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Rebecca Lenkiewicz (Her Naked Skin), and directed by Holly Race Roughan (A View from the Bridge).
In Small Hotel, Ralph Fiennes plays Larry, an acclaimed TV celebrity whose life and career are rapidly unravelling. As he is forced to unpick his past and confront his future, the audience are introduced to a collection of unforgettable characters, including his troubled twin brother Richard, his unpredictable former lover Marianne, and his domineering mother Athena played by Francesca Annis. Further casting is to be announced.
Small Hotel is running at the Theatre Royal from 3 to 18 October 2025.
Patti Smith
The Ralph Fiennes season at the Theatre Royal Bath will also include an evening with legendary musician, artist and writer Patti Smith, on Sunday 6 July.
Patti Smith is the author of the National Book Award winner, Just Kids, as well as Woolgathering, M Train, Year of the Monkey, and A Book of Days. Her seminal album Horses has been hailed as one of the top 100 albums of all time.
Accompanying Patti Smith will be Tony Shanahan and Jackson Smith.
Grace Pervades
The Ralph Fiennes season opens on 27 June with Grace Pervades, the world premiere of a new play by David Hare, starring Ralph Fiennes as the legendary Henry Irving alongside Miranda Raison as his wife Ellen Terry.
Grace Pervades, which runs from 27 June to 19 July at Theatre Royal Bath directed by Jeremy Herrin, also stars Sharif Afifi, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Tom Kanji, Harriet Leitch, Helena Lymbury, Jordan Metcalfe, Jo Mousley, Damian Myerscough, Guy Paul, Saskia Strallen and Kathryn Wilder.
The wider creative team includes Bob Crowley (set designer), Fotini Dimou (costume designer), Peter Mumford (lighting designer), Elizabeth Purnell (sound designer), Akhila Krishna (video designer), Paul Englishby (composer) and Lucy Cullngford (movement director). The play is co-produced with Second Half Productions.
