More casting has been announced for Rebecca Frecknall’s new production of Eugene O’Neill classic A Moon for the Misbegotten at the Almeida Theatre in London.
A Moon for the Misbegotten is playing at the Almeida from 17 June to 16 August 2025.
Already announced are Michael Shannon (George & Tammy; Boardwalk Empire) and Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson (The Affair; Luther).
They will be joined by David Threlfall (Shameless, Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me), Peter Corboy (Hothouse, Bad Sisters) and Akie Kotabe (Industry, The Wheel of Time).

Joining Rebecca Frecknall in the creative team are: Set Designer Tom Scutt; Costume Designer Moi Tran; Lighting Designer Jack Knowles; Sound Designer Peter Rice; Composer NYX; Casting Director
Julia Horan CDG; and Associate Director Lizzie Manwaring.
Rebecca Frecknall (Cabaret) directs at the Almeida following her multi-award winning production of A Streetcar Named Desire, and recent Almeida revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof starring Kingsley Ben-Adir, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Lennie James.
A Moon for the Misbegotten is running at the Almeida Theatre from 17 June to 16 August 2025.
Currently playing at the Almeida is Eugène Ionesco’s absurdist satire Rhinoceros (until 26 April 2025), in a new production translated and directed by Omar Elerian (The Chairs). Coming up is the world premiere of Ava Pickett’s Susan Smith Blackburn Prize-winning play 1536 (6 May to 7 June 2025), directed by Lyndsey Turner (Chimerica).
