Book The Horse of Jenin Tickets at the Bush Theatre London
“The horse in Arabic is a symbol of freedom. But to us, this horse is much more. This horse is us.”
A powerful new play from Palestinian actor and comedian Alaa Shehada, The Horse of Jenin is a deeply personal and poetic exploration of memory, resilience, and identity.
For twenty years, the Horse of Jenin sculpture stood proudly in the centre of the city, built from the wreckage of a major invasion. A symbol of hope and defiance, it became a constant in Alaa’s life growing up in Occupied Palestine.
Then, on 29 October 2023, an Israeli bulldozer tore the sculpture from its place—erasing not just the monument, but a piece of the community’s spirit. Now, Alaa is left with a question: What happened to the horse?
Blending autobiography, storytelling, and imagination, The Horse of Jenin is a moving testament to the power of art in the face of destruction.
Don’t miss this extraordinary production — a story of loss, resistance, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.
The Horse of Jenin is playing at the Bush Theatre from 20 November to 20 December 2025, and also 14 to 22 January 2026.
