The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s production of Fiddler on the Roof has emerged as the frontrunner in the 2025 Olivier Awards, securing 13 nominations across various categories.
Directed by Jordan Fein, this revival has been recognised in several major categories, including Best Musical Revival and the Sir Peter Hall Award for Best Director. Adam Dannheisser is nominated for Best Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Tevye, with Lara Pulver, playing Golde, is up for Best Actress in a Musical. In the supporting categories, Raphael Papo is nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical, with Liv Andrusier and Beverley Klein both contending for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical.
The production’s technical excellence is also highlighted, with nominations for Best Set Design and Best Costume Design going to Tom Scutt, Best Lighting Design (Aideen Malone), Best Theatre Choreographer (Julia Cheng), Best Sound Design (Nick Lidster), and Outstanding Musical Contribution (Mark Aspinall).
Following its sold-out run at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Fiddler on the Roof is set to transfer to London’s Barbican Theatre for a limited eight-week season from 24 May to 19 July 2025. This transfer precedes a major UK and Ireland tour, offering audiences nationwide the opportunity to experience this acclaimed production. Casting for the next installment of Fiddler is to be announced.
Other musicals to receive multiple nominations include Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet Of 1812 with 6 nominations, followed by The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button and Oliver! with 4 nominations each, and Titanique with 3 nominations. The full list of 2025 Olivier Award Nominations are here.
The 2025 Olivier Awards ceremony will take place on 6 April at the Royal Albert Hall, hosted by Beverley Knight and Billy Porter.
