Actor, comedian and writer Will Ferrell is working on a new Broadway show.
Ferrell (Anchorman) plans to adapt his screenplay for hit Netflix comedy movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga for the stage.
The star and co-writer of the film broke the news on this week’s The Graham Norton Show, telling Graham that, “We’re trying to develop it into a Broadway show.”
Will starred in the 2020 movie with Rachel McAdams, and co-wrote the screenplay with Harper Steele.
Ferrell and his team went to Eurovision with a songwriter to show them the movie, which will presumably need Eurovision’s agreement if the stage show is to go ahead.
“My wife happens to be Swedish, so Malmo, Sweden, Eurovision… and here we are now,” he said.
Directed by David Dobkin, and written by Harper Steele and Will Ferrell, the comedy film follows Icelandic pop singers Lars Erickssong (Will Ferrell) and Sigrit Ericksdóttir (Rachel McAdams) as they get the chance to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest. The movie also stars Pierce Brosnan, Dan Stevens and Demi Lovato.
There’s currently no further details of dates or Broadway venue for the show.

Also on this week’s show was Ariana Grande, star of blockbuster new movie Wicked. This week Ariana was nominated for an Oscar, alongside her co-star Cynthia Erivo.
Other Broadway news this week is that John Lithgow has confirmed that Giant, the acclaimed drama in which he plays Roald Dahl, is also looking at a Broadway run after the play transfers to the West End this April.
