The Almeida Theatre in London has announced initial casting for two of its new productions: Otherland and Rhinoceros.
The world premiere production of Otherland by Chris Bush (Standing at the Sky’s Edge) will star Jade Anouka, Jackie Clune, Fizz Sinclair and Amanda Wilkin.
Otherland is directed by Ann Yee (Next to Normal, The Human Body), and plays the Almeida from 12 February to 15 March 2025.
The creative team for Otherland will also include Set Designer Fly Davis, Costume Designer Milla Clarke, Lighting Designer Anna Watson, Sound Designer Pete Malkin, Composer and Music Supervisor Jennifer Whyte, and Casting Director Amy Ball CDG.
Omar Elerian’s new production of Eugène Ionesco’s absurdist satire Rhinoceros will star Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù (Death of a Salesman, His Dark Materials, Gangs of London), with further casting to be announced.
Omar Elerian is returning to the Almeida following his acclaimed production of Ionesco’s The Chairs, and Rhinoceros is playing at the Almeida from 25 March to 26 April 2025.
Creatives behind Rhinoceros include Translator and Director Omar Elerian, Set and Costume Designer Ana Inés Jabares-Pita, Lighting Designer Jackie Shemesh, Sound Designer Elena Peña, and Casting Director Amy Ball CDG.
Coming up at the Almeida Theatre is Rebecca Frecknall’s revival of Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, from 10 December 2024. The production stars Daisy Edgar Jones, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Lennie James.
