Their fizzy follow-up ‘Why Am I So Single?’ is as much about their own friendship as about their love lives
“Being single these days SUCKS,” says Toby Marlow. “And dating, putting yourself out there… that can suck too.” Lucy Moss, with whom Marlow wrote global hit musical Six, laughs and nods: “But it gives us such good anecdotes.” Marlow wincingly agrees and wilts sideways into her: “True! It’s the sucky source of all the best gossip.”
So their generation’s coolest, silliest musical-writing duo – Moss turned 30 at the start of the year; Marlow is 30 next week – have thrown all their friendship group’s most disastrous, romantic, daft and heartbreaking dating gossip into their “big fancy” new show: Why Am I So Single?
The show follows two friends – “fictionalised, exaggerated” versions of the writers – sitting on a sofa analysing their relationship history through a series of wittily relatable, jazz-handsy bangers…
