From Tony Award winners Lucy Moss and Toby Marlow, creators of SIX The Musical, is a brand new musical about two perpetually single best friends who can’t figure out why they are so single, and who are also (on a completely unrelated note) deciding what to write their next musical about!

The show received a successful public workshop in 2023, and is now heading to the West End!

The cast includes Jo Foster (& Juliet; Just For One Day), Leesa Tulley (SIXKin), and Noah Thomas (Everything Now, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie).

Six creators launch new show Why Am I So Single? A Big Fancy Musical for the Garrick Theatre, Casting announced
The creators of West End and global hit musical Six, Toby Marlow & Lucy Moss, have written a new show, which is opening at the West End's Garrick Theatre this August 2024. Their new show, Why Am I So Single? A Big Fancy Musical, is coming to the Garrick Theatre from 27 August 2024. A public workshop for the musical took place last year, and the project has been teased throughout this month. The show is billed as a musical extravaganza about love, dating, friendship – and bees – exploring the weird and wonderful hilariousness of being single. Why Am I So Single? follows two best friends through the ups, and mostly downs, of their dating lives in the era of Tinder (and Bumble and Grindr and Hinge and Feeld), asking how two super interesting, super cool, super fun pals could possibly still be single?!? The cast for the musical will include Jo Foster (& Juliet; Just For One Day) returning to the show following the workshop, alongside Leesa Tulley (SIX, Kin), and Noah Thomas (Everything Now, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie). Other cast are to be confirmed. The show features pop and musical-inspired songs, with choreography by Ellen Kane (Matilda the Musical, Dear England Why Am I So Single? is directed by Lucy Moss; the Choreographer is Ellen Kane; the Orchestrator, Vocal Arranger and Musical Supervisor is Joe Beighton; the Set Designer is Moi Tran; Max Johns is the Costume Designer; the Lighting Designer is Jai Morjaria; the Sound Designer is Paul Gatehouse; and the team is completed by Future Cut as music production, and Phoebe Bath as Production Manager, and casting direction by Harry Blumenau and Sarah-Jane Price from Harry Blumenau Casting. The show is produced by Kenny Wax (SIX, The Play That Goes Wrong, Mind Mangler), Ameena Hamid (The Wiz, Bonnie & Clyde) and George Stiles (Mary Poppins, Half A Sixpence). Writers Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss said in a statement: "This is ultimately a musical about two friends, their desire for love, and how they deal with loneliness. Six creators to premiere new musical at the West End’s Garrick Theatre this August 2024
Breaking News: CONFIRMED! The rumoured show is Why Am I So Single? A Big Fancy Musical - coming to the West End's Garrick Theatre from August 2024. The creators of West End and international hit musical SIX, Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, are set to premiere a new musical. With the teaser title of "A Big Fancy Musical", the show's actual title and details will be shared on 13 February 2024, the day before Valentine's Day. The musical, which is produced by SIX producer Kenny Wax, George Stiles and Ameena Hamid, is heading to the West End's Garrick Theatre, playing from August 2024. Tickets will go on sale on 14 February 2024, at 10am. It's unclear whether this secret new project is their new musical Why Am I So Single?, which had a public workshop performance last September 2023 at Sadler’s Wells, also produced by Kenny Wax, George Stiles and Ameena Hamid. Why Am I So Single? is a new musical about two perpetually single best friends who can’t figure out why they are so single, and who (on a completely unrelated note) are deciding what to write their next musical about! Lucy and Toby have won a Tony, two Drama Desks, and an Outer Critics Circle Award for their music and lyrics for SIX. Last month, on 23 January 2024, SIX celebrated its 6th year in the West End, having played over 1,000 performances. Lucy was also nominated for best director of a musical at the Tony’s for her co-direction of SIX, with Jamie Armitage. Lucy's other writer-director credits include Hot Gay Time Machine (West End), also with Toby, and other directing credits include Legally Blonde (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre); and Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical (Actors’ Fund Online Benefit).
