Jamie Lloyd (Sunset Boulevard, Romeo & Juliet) has announced casting for his forthcoming production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London.
Already announced is Hollywood star Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Avatar, Gorillas In The Mist, The Ice Storm) as Prospero.
She will be joined by Jude Akuwudike (Kyoto, A Mirror) as Alonso, Jason Barnett (The Seagull, Hot Wing King) as Stephano, Selina Cadell (A Monster Calls, The Dresser) as Gonzalo, Mathew Horne (The Lover / The Collection, Gavin & Stacey) as Trinculo, Mara Huf (The Effect, Childminder) as Miranda, Forbes Masson (Farm Hall, The Crown) as Caliban, Mason Alexander Park (Cabaret, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) as Ariel, James Phoon (Harry Potter and The Cursed Child) as Ferdinand, Oliver Ryan (Richard III, The Red King) as Sebastian and Tim Steed (Breeders, Jack Absolute Flies Again) as Antonio.
Joining Jamie Lloyd in the creative team for The Tempest will be: Set and Costume Design by Soutra Gilmour; Lighting Design by Jon Clark; Sound Design and Co-Composer by Ben and Max Ringham; Co-Composer Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante; Movement Director Fabian Aloise; Associate Director and Text Edited by Jonathan Glew; Casting Director Stuart Burt CDG; Musical Director Giles Deacon; Intimacy Coordinator Ingrid Mackinnon; Associate Costume Designer Anna Josephs; Props Supervisor Fahmida Bakht; and Production Manager Lloyd Thomas.
Directed by Jamie Lloyd, The Tempest is running at Theatre Royal Drury Lane from 7 December 2024 to 1 February 2025.
Following The Tempest, Jamie Lloyd will direct Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing starring Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell as Benedick and Beatrice at Theatre Royal Drury Lane theatre, from 10 February 2025 to 5 April 2025.
