Acclaimed play White Rabbit Red Rabbit is making its West End’ debut @sohoplace Theatre this October.

Written by Iranian writer Nassim Soleimanpour, White Rabbit Red Rabbit is an audacious theatrical experiment that features a different actor at every performance.

The play has no rehearsals or director, just a willing performer who doesn’t know the play and who turns up to a script waiting for them in a sealed envelope on stage.

The London cast of White Rabbit Red Rabbit will feature a star-studded roll-call of famous names, including Jason Issac, Daisy Edgar Jones, Catherine Tate, John Bishop, Michael Sheen, Pearl Mackie and more, each performing the show on separate nights.

The full cast is: Alan Davies, Alfred Enoch, Ben Bailey Smith, Callum Scott Howells, Catherine Tate, Daisy Edgar Jones, Freema Agyeman, Jason Issac, Jill Halfpenny, Joe Dempsie, John Bishop, Jonathan Pryce, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Kate Fleetwood, Keith Allen, Mathew Baynton, Michael Sheen, Nick Mohammed, Omari Douglas, Olly Alexander, Pearl Mackie, Richard Gadd, Sally Phillips, and Tonia Sotiropoulou.

See here for the full schedule of performances.

The production is presented by Lambert Jackson and Nassim Soleimanpour Productions in association with Nica Burns.

Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour has distilled the experience of an entire generation into his wild, highly original play White Rabbit Red Rabbit.

Forbidden to leave his country, playwright Nassim Soleimanpour has written a play that covers contemporary Iran and power dynamics in the rest of the world.

White Rabbit Red Rabbit premiered in Edinburgh in 2011 and has since been translated into over 30 languages, and performed over 3,000 times in 78 countries around the world, including by actors John Hurt, Whoopi Goldberg, Nathan Lane, Stephen Rea, Sinead Cusack, Marcus Brigstocke, Dominic West and Ken Loach.

Writer Nassim Soleimanpour said in a statement: “It is personal but universal. Funny yet very political. And so timely for the world we live in. We are so excited to present it at this time and in such great company.”

Producer Jamie Lambert said: “We are thrilled to be bringing this absolutely brilliant edge-of-your-seat piece to the newest West End theatre. Eliza and I are really proud of our colleague, Phoebe Noble, for working with Nassim to bring this incredible play to West End audiences. It’s really not one to miss – every night will be different, and it’s the type of theatre that will keep you on your toes throughout!”

Nica Burns said: “And now for something completely different @sohoplace as we celebrate our second anniversary on 15 October. A surprise for both audience and performer every night. The risk! The excitement! The collective willing on! Our intimate, in-the-round auditorium is perfect for such a collaborative performer and audience experience. We will all be in the moment together, close up and personal.”

White Rabbit Red Rabbit is playing @sohoplace Theatre from 1 to 19 October 2024.
