The forthcoming concert production of Sondheim on Sondheim has revealed further casting for its October run at the Alexandra Palace Theatre in London.
This revue-style show honours the music of legendary composer Stephen Sondheim.
Performers already announced include Georgina Onuorah (Kiss Me Kate, Oklahoma!), Jenna Russell (Hello, Dolly!, EastEnders), and Scarlett Strallen (Mary Poppins, A Chorus Line).
They will be joined by Lucca Chadwick-Patel (Mean Girls, Mamma Mia!), Josefina Gabrielle (Chicago, Oklahoma!), Jak Malone (Operation Mincemeat), Clive Rowe (The Baker’s Wife) and Jack Wolfe (Next to Normal).
Previously announced Fra Fee (Lost Boys and Fairies, Cabaret) has had to drop out.
The performers will be accompanied by a live 14-piece orchestra.
The revue features songs from nineteen Sondheim musicals, including well-known, lesser-known, and cut material from shows produced over a 62-year period. Musicals represented include West Side Story, Company, Follies, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Sunday In The Park With George, Merrily We Roll Along, Passion, Sweeney Todd, Into The Woods, and more.
Sondheim on Sondheim is an intimate portrait of Sondheim in his own words and music, and this new concert will use exclusive interview footage allowing audiences to get an inside look at the personal life and artistic process of the great composer.
The show is directed by Paul Foster, with Musical Director Alex Parker, Choreographer Joanna Goodwin, Lighting Designer Jack Weir, Sound Designer Paul Smith, and Video Designer Neil McDowell Smith.
Sondheim on Sondheim in Concert is playing the Alexandra Palace Theatre on 20 and 21 October 2024.
Jenna Russell is currently starring in Hello, Dolly! at the London Palladium with Imelda Staunton until 14 September. Georgina Onuorah is currently starring in Cole Porter musical Kiss Me, Kate at the Barbican Theatre, also until 14 September 2024. Clive Rowe is currently staring in The Baker’s Wife at the Menier Chocolate Factory, ALSO until 14 September. Jack Wolfe is currently starring in Next to Normal at the Wyndham’s Theatre in London until 21 September 2024.
