Iconic Broadway star Patti LuPone is returning to London next year for the first time since winning an Olivier Award in Marianne Elliott’s award-winning production of Company.
The acclaimed Evita and Gypsy star will perform her new solo show Patti LuPone: A Life in Notes at the London Coliseum in February 2025.
Playing the huge London Coliseum, Patti LuPone: A Life in Notes will be her biggest solo concert to date in the UK, and the only date in Europe for the tour.
Written by Jeffrey Richman (Frasier, Modern Family), the show is conceived and directed by Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Some Like It Hot), with music direction and arrangements by Joseph Thalken, and comes to London after playing the Carneigie Hall in New York, and US and Australian tours.
LuPone’s new concert takes important eras of her life and uses music to crystallise and evoke her time growing up in America, from a young girl during the rock and roll scene of the fifties, to coming of age in the politically and socially turbulent sixties, to eventually achieving success with both her 50 year career, and family.
Patti LuPone is a three-time Tony Award winner whose performances include playing Joanne in Marianne Elliott’s award-winning production of Stephen Sondheim musical Company in London and Broadway, winning an Olivier Award and Tony Award for the role. Also, Madame Rose in the most recent Broadway revival of the Jule Styne-Stephen Sondheim-Arthur Laurents classic Gypsy, and the title role in the original Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita.
Songs featured in the concert include I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables, Don’t Cry for Me Argentina from Evita, and The Ladies Who Lunch from Company; plus a number of songs London audiences will hear Patti sing for the very first time including 50s rock anthem Teen Angel, and Gene Pitney classic Town Without Pity.
LuPone is also back on Broadway this autumn starring in The Roommate by Jen Silverman, with Mia Farrow.
Patti LuPone: A Life in Notes will play the London Coliseum on Sunday 16 February 2025 at 7.30pm
