Finally! After an encore showing was cancelled at the beginning of Covid, The Old Vic’s acclaimed production of Noel Coward comedy Present Laughter is heading back to cinemas courtesy of National Theatre Live.

Directed by Matthew Warchus, the 2019 production starred Andrew Scott (Vanya, Ripley, All of Us Strangers, Fleabag), Indira Varma (Oedipus, Macbeth, Games of Thrones), Sophie Thompson (The Ballad of Hattie and James, EastEnders), Luke Thallon (Leopoldstadt) and Suzie Toase (One Man Two Guvnors, Harry Potter).

Andrew Scott and Indira Varma picked up 2020 Olivier Awards for their performances, which scored a slate of five star reviews for this Noel Coward classic.

The National Theatre Live screening date will be 18 July 2024.

Caroline Maddison, Deputy Director of Digital Products at the National Theatre said in a statement: “Present Laughter is a fan favourite for National Theatre Live audiences and a brilliant addition to the NT Live programme this year, following our successful releases of Dear England, Vanya, The Motive and the Cue and Nye. We’re thrilled to rerelease this incredible production from The Old Vic to cinemas this summer and make it accessible to ever wider audiences.”
