A new UK tour has been announced of Bill Bryson’s Notes From a Small Island – a stage adaptation of Bill Bryon’s best-selling 1995 book about British eccentricities.
The comedy will star TV and stage favourite Les Dennis (Coronation Street) as Bill Bryson, with further casting to be announced.
From Calais to Scotland, in the play Bill travels the length and breadth of Britain, celebrating British people’s quirks and foibles. How can the nation that produced Marmite, Gardener’s Question Time and people who say “Ooh lovely” at the sight of a cup of tea, hold such a special place in this American’s heart?
Bill Bryson’s Notes From a Small Island is adapted from Bryon’s book by playwright and screenwriter Tim Whitnall (Morecambe, The Hide).
Directed by Watermill Theatre’s artistic director Paul Hart (The Lord Of The Rings), the show will tour to venues including Birmingham, Brighton, Glasgow, London Richmond, and Woking.
A 2023 version of the show by the Watermill Theatre starred Mark Hadfield.
Les Dennis is currently starring in Shakespeare North Playhouse’s production of Twelfth Night, until 29 June 2024.
