A new musical from West End composer Stuart Brayson (From Here to Eternity) is set to premiere in Ireland this June 2024.
New show Irish Affair will play three staged concerts at the National Opera House in Wexford, Ireland from 27 to 29 June 2024
Developed by the National Opera House of Ireland in collaboration with The Irish College of Music Theatre, the show is based on a true story about a marriage between Sean Cloney, a Catholic, and Sheila Kelly, a Protestant, set in Ireland in 1957. Their lives and love are severely tested by the powerful religious forces swirling around them.
Irish Affair has a book, music and lyrics by Stuart Brayson. Musical Director and Music arrangements are by David Wray, and the show is produced by Deirdre Masterson, and executive produced by The National Opera House, with Associate Producer Elizabeth Drawl.
The cast includes Fionn Gardner as Sean Cloney and Karla Tracey as Sheila Cloney, alongside Tony Carty as Father Stafford, Michael O’Gorman as Paddy, Hannah McNicholas Roche as Brigid, Lyla Keane as Eileen Cloney, and Allie Keane as Mary Cloney. Other cast include Daniel Furlong, Oisin Murphy, Fintan O’Leary, Laura Carroll, Holly Rossiter, Emma Stack, and Annemarie O’ Mahoney. The children ensemble includes Clare and Ruth Stafford, Hollie and Kayden Kinsella, Keela Gaule, Layla Masterson, Kiefer Byrne and Alex Sinnott.
Stuart Brayson’s musical From Here To Eternity, written with Tim Rice, had a revival at Charing Cross Theatre in London in 2022. The show is also getting a reimagined production in the US this week, with Skylight Music Theatre in Milwaukee playing the show from 12 April to 5 May 2024.
