Casting is announced for Mates in Chelsea at the Royal Court Theatre in London

Rory Mullarkey’s riotous new play stars Laurie Kynaston (Spring Awakening, Almeida; The Ferryman, West End; The Son, West End) and Fenella Woolgar (Bright Young Things and Victoria and Abdul).

Directed by Royal Court Associate Director Sam Pritchard, Mates in Chelsea takes inspiration from Wilde and Wodehouse to create a contemporary comedy of manners set among the dwellers of south west London.

Things aren’t looking good for Theodore “Tug” Bungay. His mother, Lady Agrippina, has a plan to cut off his funds. His fed-up fiancée wants to drag him up the aisle and an oligarch is eyeing up his beloved Northumberland castle.

The cast also features Amy Booth-Steel (The Light Princess, One Man, Two Guvnors, She Stoops to Conquer all at the National Theatre), Natalie Dew (Bend it like Beckham,West End; Twelfth Night, Young Vic), Karina Fernandez (Fanny and Alexander, Old Vic), George Fouracres (The Comedy of Errors, The Tempest, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream all at Shakespeare’s Globe) and Philipp Mogilnitskiy (two Palestinians go dogging, Royal Court).

Mates In Chelsea runs from 3 November to 16 December 2023 at the Royal Court Theatre London.
