Heathers The Musical will return to the London stage this November with a limited run at The Other Palace Theatre, it has been announced.
From dark and traumatic to hilariously camp, this fan favourite musical comedy takes an unflinching look at the joys and anguish of high school. Heathers The Musical is scheduled to run from 25 November 2021 until 20 February 2022 at The Other Palace.
Based on the 80’s teen comedy starring Winona Ryder (Stranger Things), Christian Slater (Mr Robot) and Shannen Doherty (Charmed, Beverley Hills 90210), this musical stage adaptation featuresbook, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe.
The production is directed by Andy Fickman, with choreography by Thriller Live’s Gary Lloyd, designs by David Shields, lighting by Ben Cracknell and sound by Dan Samson.
Produced by Bill Kenwright and Paul Taylor-Mills, the musical started its UK journey with a cult following and was a box office record-breaker at The Other Palace in 2018, before transferring to the Theatre Royal Haymarket for a limited season later that year. The production then returned to the Haymarket and played a hugely successful summer season this year, kick-starting the West End’s pandemic recovery.
The return of Heathers is no great surprise given the recent news that Bill Kenwright had purchased The Other Palace theatre from long time friend Andrew Lloyd Webber. Kenwright immediately appointed producing partner Paul Taylor-Mills to the role of Artistic Director, a role he previously held. Taylor-Mills will continue to serve as Artistic Director of The Turbine Theatre in South London.
Casting for the show at The Other Palace is yet to be announced.
