The London stage production of Frozenhas extended its run at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, it has been announced.
The highly anticipated show, which begins performances next month on 27 August 2021, is now booking to 26 June 2022. It will have its official press night in September.
According toThomas Schumacher, President of Disney Theatrical Group, who spoke on Graham Norton’s Virgin Radio show last week, the musical has been tweaked and added to since it premiered on Broadway. It will premiere in London with additional songs and scenic designs specifically added to maximise the enormous stage of Drury Lane.
A timeless tale of two sisters pulled apart by a mysterious secret, the musical features all the songs from the film including: ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman?’, ‘For the First Time in Forever’ and ‘Let It Go’.
As previously announced, the cast will be led by Samantha Barks (Elsa) and Stephanie McKeon (Anna), as well as Obioma Ugoala (Kristoff), Craig Gallivan (Olaf), Oliver Ormson (Hans), Richard Frame (Weselton), and alternating the role of Sven, Mikayla Jade and Ashley Birchall.
Frozen has music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and book by Jennifer Lee. It opened on Broadway in March 2018 where it was nominated for the Tony Award for Best New Musical.
