The 2020 Tony Award nominations have been announced with Jagged Little Pill (15), Moulin Rouge! The Musical (14), Slave Play (12) and The Inheritance (11) sweeping the nominations.
Only 18 productions were eligible for this year’s awards, after the season was cut short by the ongoing pandemic. Four shows which premiered in the UK and transferred to Broadway were nominated: Jack Thorne’s A Christmas Carol, The Inheritance, Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, Betrayal with Tom Hiddleston and My Name is Lucy Barton starring Laura Linney.
In a surprise turn of events, Aaron Tveit was the only nominee for the Best Actor in a Musical category for his performance in Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
