Chichester Festival Theatre’s production of Singin’ in the Rain has postponed its Sadler’s Wells engagement until 2021 due to the coronavirus.
The Olivier-award nominated show was due to run in London and Japan this year prior to embarking on a major UK & Ireland tour in 2021.
Directed by Jonathan Church with choreography by Andrew Wright, this acclaimed production premiered at Chichester in 2012 before transferring to the Palace Theatre in London where it was nominated for four Olivier awards including best choreography.
Singin’ in the Rain is a lighthearted romantic comedy set in Hollywood in the late 1920s; with three stars portraying performers caught up in the transition from silent films to ‘the talkies’. The original film starred Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds.
The tour is not affected and will open at Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury on Thursday 21 January 2021 and will travel to Newcastle, Nottingham, Leeds, Edinburgh, Southend, Birmingham, Cardiff, Sheffield, Aberdeen, Southampton and Bradford. Further tour dates to be announced.
The production is produced by Michael Harrison Entertainment and Jonathan Church Productions.
