The 2020 West End production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will now take place in Summer 2021.
The announcement follows several productions which have been forced to postpone dates due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic and uncertainty of when theatres would be allowed to begin performances.
The smash-hit musical will now run at the London Palladium from Thursday 1 July 2021 until Sunday 5 September 2021 with Jac Yarrow and Jason Donovan confirmed as Joseph and the Pharaoh.
Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “The team and I are working hard behind the scenes to get the world’s most beloved theatre The London Palladium open and entertaining audiences this Autumn. We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to find a safe route to provide access both backstage and front of house. I am delighted that Joseph will be back on The London Palladium stage next Summer.”
Michael Harrison said: “We are pleased that, with the complete support of everyone at LW Theatres and the Really Useful Group, we can announce today rescheduled dates for the production. Joseph is the most joyous of musicals and we can’t wait to welcome audiences back to The London Palladium.”
All existing tickets will be moved to the same seats for the equivalent performances by day of the week in 2021. Performance times remain unchanged. If you are a ticket holder you do not need to do anything as your point of purchase will be in touch with you soon to confirm the new date for your booking. Public booking reopens on Friday 19 June.
Joseph is based on the story of the coat of many colours from the Bible’s Book of Genesis and features numbers such as “Close Every Door”, “Benjamin Calypso” and “Any Dream Will Do”.
Released as a concept album in 1969, the stage version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has become one of the world’s most beloved family musicals over the last fifty years.
The creative team includes Laurence Connor (direction), JoAnn M Hunter (choreography), Morgan Large (set and costume design), Ben Cracknell (lighting) and Gareth Owen (sound).
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tickets go on general sale on 19 June 2020.
Joseph will now run from Thursday 1 July 2021 and play until Sunday 5 September 2021.
