The Prince Of Egypt musical / initial London cast announced

Initial casting for the UK premiere of The Prince of Egypt musical has been announced.

Luke Brady (Sweeney Todd) will take on the lead role of Moses alongside Liam Tamne (The Light in the Piazza) as Ramses, while Christine Allado (Hamilton) will play Tzipporah and Alexia Khadime (The Book of Mormon) will play Miriam.

Based on the Dreamworks animation film, the musical stage adaptation has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and a book by Philip LaZebnik.

The Prince of Egypt follows two young men, raised as brothers in a kingdom of privilege, who are suddenly divided by a secret past. One must rule as Pharaoh, the other must rise up and free his true people; both face a destiny that will change history forever.

The musical features 10 new songs written by Stephen Schwartz, together with 5 of his acclaimed songs from the DreamWorks Animation film, including Deliver Us, All I Ever Wanted, Through Heaven’s Eyes and the Academy Award®-winning When You Believe.

The UK production is headed by director Scott Schwartz with a creative team that includes Sean Cheesman (choreography), Kevin Depinet (set design), Ann Hould-Ward (costume design), Mike Billings (lighting design), Gareth Owen (sound design ), Jon Driscoll (projection design), Chris Fisher (illusions), August Eriksmoen (orchestrations), Dominick Amendum (musical supervision and arrangements) and Dave Rose (musical direction).

The Prince of Egypt begins previews on 5 February 2020, with opening night on 25 February 2020 and is booking until 12 September 2020 at Dominion Theatre, London.
