Rhys Ifans will star in On Bear Ridge at the Royal Court Theatre this October.

The play by award-winning writer Ed Thomas (Hinterland/Y Gwyll BBC/S4C/Netflix) follows John Daniel and Noni, owners of century old general store, as they reminisce about the shuttered store and the life they once held. The piece is a semi-autobiographical story about the places we leave behind, the indelible marks they make on us, and the unreliable memories we hold onto.

Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill) will play John Daniel alongside Rakie Ayola (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,West End; Holby City BBC) as Noni.

Ifans was recently on stage in Exit The King at the National and A Christmas Carol and King Lear, both at the Old Vic.

The cast also features Jason Hughes (The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia, West End; This Life BBC; Death in Paradise BBC) and Sion Daniel (Nightfall, Bridge Theatre; War Horse and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night (both West End).

The play is co-directed by Royal Court Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone (The Cane and Cyprus Avenue, Royal Court) and Ed Thomas.

On Bear Ridge will run at the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff (20 September – 5 October 2019) followed by the Royal Court in London (24 October – 23 November 2019).
